Design
Teresa’s design work has spanned interiors, paper, planning, craft and lifestyle, with collections created under her own name and through collaborations with major brands.
Designer, author, speaker and entrepreneur, Teresa Collins has spent more than twenty years turning personal ideas into products, books, television, events and creative experiences.
Teresa’s career began with interior design. From there, her work expanded in many directions, but she has never been interested in limiting herself.
Across every part of her career, Teresa has been drawn to creating things that feel personal, useful and beautiful. Whether it’s a room, a product or something entirely new, she wants it to feel like it belongs to the person who lives with it.
If you met me today, you would see a passionate, happy and healthy woman. You might never know what happened when I was 29 years old.
Seven months pregnant, I suffered a catastrophic stroke. In an instant, I was unable to see, speak or move. I could hear the doctors in the emergency room discussing whether I was going to survive.
What you would not see today is the numbness along the entire left side of my body or the permanent loss of half of my peripheral vision.
Inwardly, I pleaded with God to let me live.
I should not have survived. But God had a different plan.
The stroke changed my body, but it transformed my soul. Hope became more than wishing the experience had never happened. It became acceptance, faith and the decision to make the most of the life I had been given.
My vision loss and numbness remain with me every day, but they are also reminders of how grateful I am to still be here. I was given the blessing of raising my children, meeting my grandchildren and continuing to create a life filled with meaning.
My survival was not given to me only for my own comfort. It gave me a story to share and a reason to remind others that even the hardest experiences do not have to break us.
I look for the good in the bad. I have hope that my story helps others see that they can get through the hardest of challenges.
Teresa has never been interested in following one particular style.
She is drawn to pieces with history, unexpected combinations and details that carry meaning. A polished piece may sit beside something thrifted, inherited or transformed by hand.
The result is collected rather than coordinated and personal rather than perfect. Each choice adds another layer to the story of a room, an object or a life.
That mix has always been part of Teresa’s work. She is less interested in creating a particular look than in choosing what feels right and making it her own.
